Many of you have seen the artist Edgar Jansen in the studio making drawings or watercolors of dancers. The dancer/journalist Mira Petrova has interviewed him, and we are happy to present this interview on the HJS site

New Class Times starting this week!

Class Times to Change Starting 14 September:
ballet 9:30-11:00
contemporary 11:00-12:30

We have held a poll (enquete) and the results show  that most dancers prefer that the classes start 30 minutes earlier.
Ballet will be 9:30-11:00 and the contemporary class 11:00-12:30 o’clock.
On Saturday the ballet calss will remain at 10:00
We will change  the times  to what the majority of dancers prefer, and the new schedule will begin on Monday the 14th September.

Penny's last week! Littlemore, who has worked for HJS since its inception is     retiring at the end of this week.
Within a week or two we will have a  goodbye moment at the studio  (date will be announced) but there is  now a book where dancers, ex-  dancers, teachers and anyone who  has benefitted from Penny's  warm hospitality over the years can write  a few words.
You can also send a text to and we will write them in the book for you

Amsterdam Summer Intensive a Great Success!

With more than 350 dancers from 36 countries, 18 different workshops, and up to 7 daily classes, the 2015 Amsterdam Summer was the busiest most successful ever. For the first time it was held in one central location, the beautiful Chassé Dance Studios, so dancers could meet each other, network  and make new contacts. Not just the numbers were impressive, but from conversations held,  it seems that dancers and teachers were very happy with the whole program.
