GAGA class

Attention dancers: 10:00 GAGA class limit is 28, 'first come first serve'. GAGA workshop people get priority only until 15 minutes before the class starts. There is also a contemporary dance class at 10:00 taught by Vittoria die Ferrari.


EXTRA workshop Kylian Repertory 3 added on!!!

As the Kylian workshop is a very popular one -still with people on the waitinglist-  we opened another one in the same week 6 - 10 July from 12:00 - 14:30
Seems like half an hour shorter, but in the 12:00  workshop Karine immediately goes into the Repertory ( as there are open classes in the morning) . In the 15:00 workshop Karine will start with a warm up.

Kalina Bogoeva to teach 3-day Teachers'Workshop during Dansimpuls in August

The yearly mutli-day workshop program 'Dansimpuls'will take place at Chassé Dance Studios this year! The program will include many workshops for teachers and HJS will collaborate with NBDK and Holland Dance in bringing the legendary pedagogue Kalina Bogoeva to give a 3-day workshop in Teaching Essential Ballet Basics on 21,22,24 August.

Ballet: 10:00-11:30
Contemporary: 11:30-13:00

Class Teachers' bios week one Summer Intensive

Cathy Martin danced in Northern Ballet and the Israel Ballet companies and has been working as balletmistress and repetitor at the Hong Kong Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre and Introdans in Arnhem. She teaches at many companies in the Netherlands and abroad.

Stephen Pier studied at The Juilliard School and danced wih the Royal Danish Ballet ,the Hamburg Ballet , and the José Limón Company. Choreographers such as John Neumeier, Maurice Bejart, Murray Louis, Laura Dean, and Anna Sokolow, created roles for him ,and he dance in works by Bournonville, Balanchine, van Manen, and many others. Stephen has choreographed works for the Hamburg Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, New National Theater (Japan), Alvin Ailey School, Atlanta Ballet School, Juilliard Dance Ensemble, SUNY-Purchase, and many theater and opera productions. He has taught at the Royal Danish Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Atlanta Ballet, Bat Dor (Israel), Hamburg Ballet, Introdans and many other companies and schools. Stephen wa a master teacher on the faculty of the Juilliard School for many years and is currently director of the Hartt School dance program at Hartford University

Vittoria De Ferrari Sapetto has a background in ballet, \African dance and contemporary dance. modern. In 1997 she started to dance and tour with the performed with groups and choreographers as diverse as the traditional African dance group Tam Tam Magique, Jan Fabre, Quan Bui Ngoc, Davis Freeman, Arco Renz, Andy Deneys and Koen De Preter, Frey Faust Felix Ruckert. De Ferrari Sapetto founded the dance collective 2muchcompany with which she develops her own projects. In 2012 she also joined the group Consla. In 2012 De Ferrari Sapetto danced in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London in a choreography by Akram Khan. Since 2013 she has been working with Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Guy Nader, a Lebanese artist living in Barcelona, has worked with a large number of companies, including Maqamat Dance Theatre and La Intrusa. Inspired by different disciplines and the martial arts, he has developed with Maria Campos  a distinctive choreographic language. His awards include first prize at the 2010 International Masdanza Festival.

Keren Rosenberg - Studied in The Jerusalem Dance Academy and in The Academy of the Kibbutz dance Company from which she continued to dance for several high-profile Israeli companies, among which are Idan Sharabi & Dancers, Ido Tadmor Dance Company, Fresco Dance Company and Tami Dance Company She is the recipient of Keren Sharet award for young and promising dancers. In 2011 she was invited by Ohad Naharin to study the Gaga movement language and become a certified teacher. Since then She has been invited to teach Gaga and her creative workshops in Skanes dance Theater , Oldenburg dance company, Codarts Academy, Henny Jurriens Stichting, Dansateliers,, CCNG, Grenoble, Dance Base Edinburgh, Random Collision to name a few. Keren’s work was presented in the Reykjavik dance festival, Machol Acher Festival, Tel –Aviv, Dublin Fringe festival, Museum of modern art Dublin, solo@the sea festival Den Haag, Vondelpark openlucht theater Amsterdam, Dansmakers, Melkweg, Trouw Amsterdam as well as in theaters and venues in Israel, The Netherlands and Ireland.
 Her new work ‘Body-House’ premiered at the One Night Dance Project at Dansataliers, Rotterdam. Body-House was invited to perform in Korzo Theater, Den Haag as well as in Tel-Aviv dance in Suzan Dellal This Summer. Works:

Victor Fung

Victor studied dance in his native Hong Kong and the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) . He completed his MA in Choreography (merit) at London Contemporary Dance School and is currently conducting doctoral research with a studentship from Middlesex University and Dance4. As a choreographer, Victor has received funding and commissions from Arts Council England, Chisenhale Dance Space (London), Hong Kong Arts Development Council, City Contemporary Dance Company (Hong Kong) and Junior Dance Company (Italy) amongst others. His production Not Enough (Beyond Reason) was shortlisted as one of the three 'Outstanding Independent Dance' for the 2012 Hong Kong Dance Award. . His critically acclaimed workFighter, choreographed for City Contemporary Dance Company, debuted in Hong Kong in 2012 and has since toured China as part of the company's repertoire. Victor has been selected to represent the UK in SPAZIO 2013-14, a European network for dance creation, and is joined by five European choreographers in residencies across Europe including ICK (The Netherlands), Victor's recent performance credits include Aida at Royal Albert Hall, Tino Seghal's These Association at Tate Modern and Hollywood production 47 Ronin featuring Keanu Reeves. Besides choreographing and performing, Victor also teaches for the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Art (EXCEL programme) and The Place (Classes & Courses) in London.
