Pianist Charles Janko

The service for Charles will be held on Tuesday 24 October at 13:00 at
Huize Frankendael, Middenweg 72 in Amsterdam
It is with great regret that we inform HJS dancers, teachers a
nd musicians that Charles Janko has suddenly passed away.
Charles was a much-loved accompanist for ballet classes at the Henny Jurriëns Foundation for more than 15 years, and will be greatly missed.
On the HJS-desk there is a notebook in which you can share your memories of Charles, it will be there until next Monday. We will give this to his family.

Charles was not only a pianist, but also a visual artist and composer. He studied organ and piano with Piet van Egmond and piano at Jose Leal He also studied painting and graphics at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, after which he followed the degree of sonology, electronic music at Utrecht University.
In the theater world he worked as a musical director for the operas and as a conductor for different musicals.
Charles was a prominent silent movie accompanist and played at many festivals throughout the world. He wrote contemporary compositions for historical silent films and also for modern animated films.
Charles was a much-loved accompanist for ballet classes at the Henny Jurriëns Foundation for more than 15 years, and will be greatly missed.
